ABOUT IOCO | PORT MOODY, BC
Situated along the northern shoreline of Burrard Inlet, Ioco was a refinery town in the early 1900’s. The neighbourhood name “Ioco” is an abbreviation of Imperial Oil Corporation. Today, Ioco is a quiet neighbourhood with only a few residents remaining. The neighbourhood is mainly comprised of single family homes, a school and Ioco Groceteria, which are now considered protective Heritage sites.
IOCO ACTIVITIES
Residents of Port Moody’s Ioco neighbourhood are a quick 10-minute drive along Ioco Road to Newport Village. Newport Village offers great options for grocery shopping, coffee shops, restaurants, beauty salons, banking and much more. Also within minutes is Old Orchard Park, Port Moody Public Library, and Port Moody Recreation complex which includes an ice-rink, sports courts, recreation programs and is home to the Port Moody Farmers Market.
IOCO TRANSIT
The Port Moody neighbourhood of Ioco has a handful of bus stops that connect you to Moody Centre. Moody Centre Station provides West Coast Express and Skytrain service to Coquitlam, Burnaby, New Westminster, and Vancouver.
